As a part of a Hip Hop Unit called “Itsogoo” (Pronounces “It’s all good”) in Beijing, China, JiaMing makes beats for his MCs in the group, and this time he has produced his own instrumental album “Just For Fun”. His sound making has been inspired by legends to newcomers such as Pete Rock, Madlib, The Soundproviders, and Freddie Joachim just to name a few. He also respects fellow beatmakers from his Chinese label “Knitters” such as BMD and 14?, who recently produced “When The Luster Fades” which featured Substantial.
JiaMing started his career in 2008. You can feel his good taste of selecting sounds and samples to make the beats as well as his thick and sick drums that remind us of the golden era of hip hop with head-nodding groove to it. He has his own world of sound production and it’s very unique and stable. The fact that he reached this level in 4 years is amazing.
“elevation” wanted listeners to be able to listen to the current hip hop movement in China, so we have not mixed or mastered the album in Japan on purpose. Hip Hop is growing more and more in China, the most populous country in the world, and it would be great if you could take this opportunity to feel the sound of today’s China.
